The initial meeting occurs at the project site, serving as an introduction and offering an opportunity to explore project goals and discuss program requirements.

Site Visit
Conducting a Property Assessment is essential for gaining a comprehensive understanding of the site, with the goal of maximizing the potential of the design. This process involves carefully considering factors such as the orientation of the home, scenic views, the natural surroundings, proximity to neighbors, and alignment with your vision. Furthermore, accurate measurements of existing structures on the site are taken to create precise as-built drawings. In specific instances, a survey may be required to precisely determine the positioning of structures and other elements in relation to the property lines.

Research & Feasibility
Comprehensive initial inquiries are undertaken in partnership with local Planning and Building Departments to determine the feasibility of project goals and program requirements. The insights acquired through this research are pivotal in shaping the development of the design, illuminating any existing constraints that must be taken into account in the planning process.

Schematic Design
Using as-built drawings of the existing structure and adhering to program requirements, we meticulously create a Schematic Design through the use of 2D & 3D Modeling Software. A comprehensive review session is held to present the Schematic Design, showcasing detailed elements such as the Site Plan, Floor Plan, Elevations, and 3D perspectives, if needed. Additionally, an interactive review of the 3D model on the computer is provided. Clients receive a PDF file for thorough examination at home. The primary goal of the Schematic Design meeting is to scrutinize the design and make any necessary changes to meet the client's specifications. Subsequent meetings are scheduled as needed throughout the design evolution, ultimately leading to the determination of a final design.

Design Development
The process of refining drawings involves distributing them to essential consultants as required. Potential consultants may include Structural Engineers, Civil Engineers, and Energy Consultants. During this phase, the drawings undergo additional detailing, with a focus on precisely defining materials and incorporating building elements into the overall design.

Construction Documents
Producing Construction Drawings, our collaboration entails actively working with consultants to compile the essential documentation required for building permits from the local Building Department. The Construction Documents we create typically include a comprehensive set of elements, such as but not limited to a Cover Sheet, Site Plan, Floor Plan, Exterior Elevations, Window/Door Schedules, Roof and Drainage Plan, Window and Door Details, Building Sections, Architectural Details, and Schematic Electrical/Mechanical Plans.

Proposals & Cost Estimates
Disseminating Construction Drawings to General Contractors and essential consultants is a vital stage in acquiring cost estimates. If necessary, Outside the Box is well-prepared to offer suggestions for reputable local contractors, ensuring a seamless and efficient construction process.

Building Permit
Outside the Box conducts a thorough examination of Construction Drawings and documents to guarantee coherence and precision. After a comprehensive review, the drawings are carefully compiled and prepared for printing. The finalized set of drawings and documents is subsequently delivered to the owner or general contractor for Building Permit Submittal. If desired, Outside the Box is ready to assist in facilitating the submittal process.

Construction
Throughout the construction process, Outside the Box remains easily accessible to provide necessary support to clients. We perform project site visits as needed and participate in consultations with both contractors and consultants to guarantee smooth collaboration and ongoing project progress.
